Back to School

Say goodbye to summer camp along with the hefty dues. I can feel the sign relief already. Next week Monday, marks the beginning of the new school year and the little man was elated. I can’t imagine that my little Boo Boo will be on first grade already. It feels like it was just yesterday when I had him on my arms and so helpless and dependent on us. Now…(sigh...)I don’t even want to start because I tend to get emotional when it comes to my child. I wonder how parents’ deals with loneliness once they’re kids are off to college or once the nest is starting to get empty. I guess we will have to deal with that in a decade or so and just enjoy the moment.

Yesterday was “Meet the Teacher Day” also the day to drop off the school supplies. I was so impressed with my son’s new teacher Ms. Rainey. Her classroom was neatly organized from wall to wall down to the name tags and cubbies. The first impression is always important and I’m confident that my son is off to a good start and I’m excited too.

In my quest to get a general idea of what my child will be learning this school year I went to the school website. I was surprised that the website is up to date with important dates, information and tools that will be helpful for parents and students. There were online interactive activity for every age group and class level. When I was in grade school there was no internet access better yet wireless technology. Back in the days if parents need to communicate with the teacher, parents have to go to school physically. Now, with speed dial on your blackberry or a click click your mouse you are connected. Makes me wonder what it will be like ten years from now? Hmmm.
